Back At It

Hey Folks,

Sorry I've been away for a while. My computer kind of died recently and it has prevented me from playing any Planet Calypso. But! I have a new computer now which has helped made it easier to play!

I've spent a couple of days gathering sweat and killing creatures. I sold off some Christmas gifts that were given to me for free ingame. I've also surpassed 2000 sweat. Onward to 3000! Or will I sell it. Last I saw sweat was going for 2.4Ped/K. Yuck, we shall see how this goes!

Stats:
PED: 2.56

Guide to Sweating for Beginners

Starting out in Planet Calypso is very difficult so I figured this quick little guide would help those looking to really start cranking out that sweat.

Guide to Sweating for Beginners

So, you've finished creating your character and you've been teleported to Port Atlantis. Now what?? That question is one that many Planet Calypso players ask themselves shortly after making it inside the game. New players only start off with a beaten up jumpsuit and the free tool used to collect sweat within the game. From here you have two options, either A. deposit some money into the Planet Calypso universe or B. decide to take the challenging route and earn without depositing anything.

Now if you decide to deposit make sure you spend your money wisely. Mining can be a good investment but it can also be a way to blow a ton of PED in a short amount of time. I recommend if you do deposit to be very conservative with how you spend and focus on a couple specific areas (hunting, sweating, crafting, etc).

For those who aren't depositing

Most people decide to try to wing it and see how hard it is to make PED within Planet Calypso. In fact it is very difficult, especially at the beginning, to accumulate PED seeing as the only ways to make money without spending money are to gather sweat from creatures or finding stones, dung, and fruit on the ground.

I recommend that you take your only tool, the sweat gathering one, and head towards the North West of Port Atlantis (the city where they start you off). Right on the outskirts of town there are very low level mobs (L1+L2). I recommend that you spend most of your time trying to gather sweat from these low level creatures since they will damage you less than the others that exist throughout the in game world.

Heres the proper way to sweat:
First, equip the free sweating tool.
Second, go to the outskirts of Port Atlantis and find some low level mobs
Third, right click on the mob and click on the status bar, this will pop the status bar out so you can move it wherever and be able to click it at all times (its a lot harder to try to keep clicking the mob, especially since they move a ton).
Fourth, with the tool equipped click the status bar until you see a green flash that focuses on the mob, if your concentration holds you will earn some sweat.
Fifth, when you completely drain a mob, run back to a turret or the entrance of town and it will shoot down the mob, allowing you to turn around and find another mob.

The thing about sweating, especially as a beginner is: You ARE going to die a LOT. This sounds horrible but taking hits against enemies actually builds up many skills on your character. The more times you die the more skills you earn which in the end help you die a lot less. It's important to spend a lot of time acquiring these skills from dying because eventually you can sell your built up skills by putting them on an implant and selling that implant at the auction house. This will take a lot of time but as you watch your skills increase think about how in the future you could potentially tap into these skills for other purposes (PED).

When you first start sweating you will notice that you will barely get any sweat units and that it takes quite a while to drain the mobs (low level mobs all have 10 units of sweat in them). As you gain more and more skills relating to sweat gathering, (Evade, sweat gatherer, athletics, courage, etc). You will progressively be able to sweat quicker and not die as much.

For beginners, this is the best place to start. It might also be a good idea to look around for a society that fits your interest because sometimes they can be extremely helpful.

Remember, most importantly wait until you have 1000 units of sweat to sell because otherwise there is a good chance you will get ripped off.

1000 Sweat!

Judging by the title you've probably realized I hit my 1000th bottle of sweat which means I finally have the opportunity to sell it for good market value. After asking around a bit I found out that sweat is currently going for 2.5-2.8 (far from its former 5) PED. I figure I might continue to gather more sweat before I sell but if the opportunity arises I might just go for it.

Keep in mind however, that means it will take 400,000 bottles of sweat to hit the 1000 PED mark. YIKES! Because of this, I'm looking to utilize hunting and sweating to get to that important 1000 mark.

I spent 5+ PED to repair my Enblade again but I did gain a lot of experience and I gained another .1 tier on it. Plus I looted about .60 PED so far with it while sweating.

Here are my updated stats:

PED: 5.49
Sweat Gatherer: 314
Anatomy: 314
Light Weapons Tech: 295
First Aid: 222
Longblades: 219
Rifle: 201
Evade: 180
Combat: 137
Prospecting: 112
Athletics: 111
Courage: 105
Mining: 100
Health: 92
Strength: 23
Sweat Inventory: 1020!
